Rosario 'Rosie' Martina, a 98-year-old Baton Rouge native who four decades ago helped open the city's first meal center for the needy is honored as the 2020 Golden Deeds Award. winner. "Rosie's Army" of 20 to 25 volunteers carries only one weapon - a love of the poor. Every day of the week Rosie and his crew pick up food donated by local grocery stores, bakeries and restaurants and deliver it to the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room, where it is used to feed hundreds of poor and needy in the Baton Rouge area.
